Re - Safety of Patients
Criminal Insane Building. -

Dear Doctor:

It is quite apparent from examining the individual rooms in this building, that the construction is such that patients bent on self-destruction can very easily accomplish their end in a very few moments while an attendant is attending some other patient down the corridor. Because of this fact, I have asked Mr. G. N. Williams, our architect to endeaour to work out, before the sitting of the coroner's jury on Friday, the 8th, some plan for an eight bed dormitory whereby patients known to be depressed or suicidal may be under constant supervision of an attendant. Will you please let me have your recommendations with respect to this as soon as possible?

Yours very truly,
[Signed
